AP government to purchase discoloured paddy

Raja said he would try to get funds sanctioned from central govt for linking the four main highways of the state with the national highway

KAKINADA: West Godavari in-charge minister Dadisetty Ramalingeswara Rao (Raja) assured farmers not to worry about their paddy that has got damaged due to Asani Cyclone.

“State government will purchase the paddy even though it has got discoloured. District administrations have already been issued instructions in this regard,” the road and buildings minister said. He was addressing the West Godavari district review meeting at Bhimavaram on Friday.

Raja pointed out that the paddy issue had been brought to the notice of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The CM okayed purchase of paddy so that farmers suffer no loss.

Speaking about roads, the minister Raja said he would try to get funds sanctioned from central government for linking the four main highways of the state with the national highway.

Endowment minister Kottu Satyanarayana said all drinking water sources are full of water. Civil supplies minister Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao said this ministry officials are ensuring that mediators or millers do not purchase paddy from farmers below the MSP.

The district review meeting was also attended by former minister Cherukuwada Sriranganatha Raju, Bhimavaram MLA G. Srinivas, Undi MLA M. Ramaraju of Telugu Desam, state chief whip M. Prasada Raju, West Godavari district collector P. Prashanti and joint collector J.V. Murali.
