Bengaluru: Many trains from Bengaluru to Hubballi have been cancelled for 15 days for the rail track work in the South Western Railways.
Train No. 56913/56914 KSR (Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna) Bengaluru - Hubballi - KSR passengers will be partially cancelled between Chikjajur and Hubballi. Train No. 56273/56274 Arsikere - Hubballi - Arsikere Passenger will be partially cancelled between Harihar and Hubballi on all days except Monday from May 13 and 27.
The Railways clarified that the cancellation of 30 trains is temporary and the services will be restored after 15 days. This is to improve infrastructure in the sector, it said.
A railway official said, “These are only the temporary cancellations because of non-interlocking work on the Yalvigi - Gudgeri Section of Mysuru Division. The work will be completed in a few days and the operations will resume as usual."
Passengers said day travel from Bengaluru to Hubballi will be affected and they have to shell out more for buses. “We request the Railways not to extend the work and delay the resumption of train services. They should complete it in 15 days as announced," said Ramesh, a commuter.
