The gang members tried to force both of them into their car, but even as Nagarajan was bundled into it Nehru managed to flee the spot.

Salem: In a shocking incident, a 41-year-old financier who also runs a chit fund business and trades in silver articles was kidnapped by some unidentified miscreants near Panangadu Andipatti near here late on Sunday night.

Police said on Monday that financier Nagarajan and his friend Nehru, 40, after a drink were returning home on a two-wheeler when their vehicle was chased by some miscreants speeding in a car near Kondalampatti roundtana, who waylaid them.

The gang members tried to force both of them into their car, but even as Nagarajan was bundled into it Nehru managed to flee the spot. A shocked Nehru then filed a complaint with nearby Sooramangalam police, who are investigating.

Police said locals of Andipatti area near Salem had already filed a complaint last year against Nagarajan for allegedly misappropriating the funds they contributed to his chit fund business.

There could be a similar issue behind this kidnap, said a police official probing the financier’s kidnap.
