Hyderabad: SSC student attempts to take his life

In March this year, Kumar again appeared for the SSC examination but could not secure pass mark in mathematics.

Hyderabad: Depressed at not passing the Class X examinations, a 19-year-old student from Vikarabad district attempted suicide by consuming pesticide at his home on Monday. The student, G. Shiva Kumar, was rushed to the Vikarabad government hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

According to sources, the Shiva Kumar, a resident of Peddamunthal village in Pudur mandal of Vikarabad district, had failed in mathematics in the Class 10 exams last year. He appeared for supplementary examinations but could not clear the subject.

In March this year, Kumar again appeared for the SSC examination but could not secure pass mark in mathematics. The SSC results were announced on Monday.

After learning that he had not succeeded, Kumar attempted suicide by consuming pesticide at his home. His parents noticed him struggling and rushed him to the Vikarabad government hospital where he is undergoing treatment, said the sources.

Officials said the SSC Board had taken great care to ensure that there were no mistakes in the results, to prevent a repeat of the Inter marks fiasco.
