Bengaluru: Just a few minutes of rain is enough to flood the city. After the thundershowers on Monday evening, areas like the posh BTM Layout, turned into lakes with rainwater mixed with sewage entering homes.
Roads, houses and apartment basements were flooded. People shared videos of a man wading through neck-deep waters.
Water expert Ram Prasad, who also shared the video, said, "BTM Layout flooded today. Just 5 km away, borewells have gone dry and are in dire need of water. As modernity and urbanisation kicks in, does common sense gets kicked out?"
While the weather forecast has rains over the next few days, the BBMP seem to be deep slumber by not keeping the needed infrastructure in place, an expert said. Traffic was thrown out of gear in the city with several areas going dark as Bescom took up maintenance works adding to the rain woes.
