Rajinikanth discusses party strategy with youth wing
Chennai: Superstar Rajinikanth on Sunday held a meeting of the youth wing secretaries of the Rajini Makkal Mandram here and discussed various issues including methods for strengthening the organisation and possible future alliances.
The actor, who is yet to launch his party, later tweeted that he was happy that the meeting with his mandram’s youth wing secretaries was “productive”, though he did not explain what that meant or what had transpired at the session.
After announcing at the audio launch of his ‘Kaala’ on May 9, the star had said time had not come as yet to launch full scale into politics. The following day, he held discussions at his Poes Garden residence with the district secretaries of his Mandram and followed it up with 33 district secretaries of the youth wing now on Sunday. Among the issues raised, Rajinikanth sought the views of his lieutenants on possible repercussions of openly aligning with the BJP whenever the elections are held.
Sources said the star also told his followers they should be disciplined in whatever they say and do. “We have to lead a good life. Only then people will be inspired to join us”, one source quoted his thalaivar (leader) saying.
Manram’s state secretary Raju Mahalingam told reporters after the Sunday meeting that thalaivar had discussed various critical issues confronting the people and also the ways of strengthening the manram. “He will have a meeting with the women’s wing leaders on Wednesday”, he said.
It is said that the superstar is planning to hold a mega rally at Coimbatore next month to formally launch his political party. Following his announcement on December 31 last year to foray into politics, the manram has been hyperactive in enrolling fresh members.
It may be recalled that Rajinikanth had declared he would practise spiritual politics and field candidates in all the 234 constituencies in TN in the next Assembly polls in 2021. “We all have a duty. Good times will come soon. With the blessings of God and support of people, good things will happen for Tamil Nadu when the time comes,” he had said on May 9.
