Bengaluru: Sunday was a busy day for students in the state as two entrance exams – Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) UGET- Under Graduate Entrance Test and Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), both online, took place in various centres across cities.
While more than 62,000 students in the state attended for the former, which is the gateway to engineering, medical and dental seats in the state, around 59,000 aspiring lawyers from across the country took up CLAT.
COMEDK easier than CET: Students
Most students who took the test in the city felt that COMEDK was easier than the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) on April 18 and 19.
One among them, Sharadhi G.R., a student from BASE said Chemistry was easiest of all as numericals which were expected more were lesser in number. “With Physics section seeing more concept-based questions, I felt easy understanding and answering them as well without any trouble,” she said.
For Madhav Jivrajan, an aspiring computer engineer from Yelahanka, the shift in Chemistry questions from application-based ones to memory-based was something unexpected. “I felt some questions from Physics were repetitive, testing the same concept while Maths was a bit lengthy. The scientific calculator provided came handy at a lot of instances helping me to further answering without spending too much time on any question,” he said.
COMEDK offers more than 18,000 seats in 190 engineering, 16 medical and 24 dental colleges in the state run by private managements. Results will be out by May 28.
CLAT moderate; candidates hopeful
Aspiring lawyers who attended CLAT for admissions to both UG and PG courses found the test moderate.
Abhiram, a candidate who attended the UG entrance version found the questions easy. “My preparations were put to test in the right way and I’m hopeful of securing a seat in a reputed National Law School,” he said.
For Abhijit, who took the test at Visveswaraya Institute of Technology, Airport Road, the test gave him hopes of getting into a good Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) as he could fare well.
