Hyderabad folk to experience App-based keyless bikes

The consignment of 10 two-wheelers is being completely used both on weekdays and weekends.

Hyderabad: There are more takers for gearless scooters than bicycles at Miyapur Metro station. In almost six months since, the Hyderabad Metro commenced operations, the bikes provided as part of last mile connectivity are more accepted than any other service provided.

This is evidently due to cost and ease of commute that two-wheelers have to offer over the health perks that cycles offer. The consignment of 10 two-wheelers is being completely used both on weekdays and weekends.

Consequently, the providers will be adding 500 gearless bikes in a week to cater to the last mile needs. This will be rolled out across all the Metro stations.

Ravi Shankar who liaises at Miyapur Metro station says the response has been good especially considering the low cost and flexibility. Vivekananda Hallekere, co-founder of Metrobikes.in says, “We are currently running limited number of vehicles and are 100 per cent utilised. However, there are about 500 vehicles which are under registration process and will be available for use in the next seven days. These vehicles will be rolled out across all the Metro stations in Hyderabad.”

Furthermore, within the next couple of months Hyderabadis can experience the keyless bike. The company which has launched keyless two-wheelers in Bengaluru will soon remove the burden of having designated parking points to drop off vehicles. After booking a bike on the company’s mobile app the scooter will be automatically unlocked. The rider will be able to access the storage of helmet, start and stop the scooter. A person can get off at any legal parking area and the next commuter who needs the bike will be notified of the nearest available vehicle.
