Telangana: Nod awaited for online admission for Intermediate courses

Hyderabad: The Telangana state government is yet to give its nod to take up online admissions for Intermediate courses in junior colleges for the ensuing academic year (2017-18).
The government proposed online method to check irregularities in admissions especially in corporate and private junior colleges, which are admitting students beyond their sanctioned strength by starting unauthorised colleges and additional sections.
Board of intermediate education secretary Dr A. Ashok said, “We are awaiting the nod from the government for taking up online admissions. We have not issued inter admission notification so far. We will issue it after getting clarity from the government on online admissions.”
He addressing a press conference on Saturday on the arrangements for advanced supplementary exams from May 15 to 23. The exams for the first year will be held from 9am to 12noon and for the second year students from 2.30pm to 5.30pm on the same day. Practical exams will be conducted from May 24 to 28, exam for ethics and human values paper on May 29 and for environmental education on May 30. 3,26,642 candidates have registered for first-year and 1,51,648 for second-year. About 872 exam centres have been set up across the state.
CCTV cameras have been installed in the centres to check copying. A GPRS system has been installed in centres to prevent leakage of question papers from the exam centres which will block mobile phone signals.
