Special teams to assess beach mineral sand stock in Nellai

The special officer, Mr. Satyabrata Sahoo, however, refused to respond to the allegations of illegal mining of beach mineral sand.

Tirunelveli: Three joint teams comprising State and Central government officials are to assess the stock of the beach minerals in Tirunelveli district from May 24.
Stating this after a consultative meeting with the Tirunelveli district collector and the district revenue and police officials, chairman of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC)

Satyabrata Sahoo, who too has been appointed as special officer to take stock of the beach mineral sand at the godowns in the southern districts by the court, said that he would commence the second phase of the stock assessment at
the godowns in Thoothukudi, on May 15.

The special officer, Mr. Satyabrata Sahoo, however, refused to respond to the allegations of illegal mining of beach mineral sand. He explained that his duty was to assess the stock and submit his report before the Madras High court next month.

The special teams to assess the beach mineral stock was constituted based on the court direction as per section 23(B) of Mines and Minerals (development and regulation) Act 1957.
