Monsoon ready: Hyderabad civic body cancels leaves
Hyderabad: In order to be battle-ready to face the approaching Monsoon, the municipal administration department has ordered suspension of leave to all staff till the season’s end. All vital departments like the GHMC, HMWSSB, traffic and local weather bureau will have an inter-connected integrated disaster management resource system, that will work on a war footing and attend to monsoon damage, as and where it occurs in the city.
“All road cuttings have been banned during the monsoon. The city’s sewerage board will restore the dug-up roads on a brisk pace before the onset of monsoon. The GHMC zonal commissioners must visit local areas to identify works to avoid flooding. Water board would deploy 72 small air-tech machines and 29 emergency teams during the rainy season. In a holistic development, work on 14 lakes will be taken up in the first phase. Traffic police department will independently survey main stretches and inform the remaining problems to the GHMC, said municipal minister K.T. Rama Rao.
