Jishnu Pranoy suicide case suffers setback

The students who questioned the rules of the college were allegedly beaten up by the college authorities in this room.

Thirssur: The investigation into the Jishnu Pranoy suicide case has suffered a setback with the finding that a DNA test of his blood samples could not be conducted due to lack of sufficient quantity of blood.

This is as per the report of the Forensic Science Laboratory in Thiruvananthapuram where the special investigation team had sent the bloodstains collected from the ‘torture’ room of Nehru College, Pampady.

Rural police chief N. Vijayakumar said that according to the report from the forensic lab, the DNA test could not be done due to lack of enough quantity of blood samples.

“The investigation is on and we have not yet reached the stage to file the chargesheet,” he added. The SIT had found the bloodstains in the ‘torture’ room on February 16 during their last round of inspection after Jishnu Pranoy was found hanging in the toilet of his hostel room on January 6. The students who questioned the rules of the college were allegedly beaten up by the college authorities in this room.
