Error-free title deeds soon, says Pinarayi Vijayan
Kasargod: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said his government’s focus was on the flawless distribution of title deeds.
Inaugurating the first district-level distribution, at the Town Hall in Kanhangad, he said it shouldn’t be political melas.
“Often it is mired in controversies like the non-existence of real land or land in other’s possession. The government is for deserved persons getting it without any complaint,” he said.
There were 7.5 lakh acres identified for distribution among landless people in 1957, he said, but it had shrunk to 2.5 lakh acres now.
“Distribution of title deeds should be held in all districts as per the election promise of LDF. Idukki has the most number of complaints, and there the mela would take place on May 21,” he said.
More than 2,000 title deeds were distributed in Kasargod. Revenue minister E. Chandrasekharan urged the district administration to ensure that all who got title deeds get land without any fail. Besides, 100 acres of land were given to 150 Adivasi families as per the tribal rehabilitation programme.
As many as 93 families who got barren land in Thekkil village have given an equal quantity of usable land in the Padi village. P. Karunakaran MP, MLAs P.B. Abdul Rasak, N.A Nellikunnu, M. Rajagopalan, K. Kunhiraman, district collector K. Jeevan Babu and RDO Dr P.K. Jayashree also spoke.
