Malegaon blasts: Sadhvi Pragya gets NIA clean chit

The Congress attacked the NDA government, alleging it was trying to save people belonging to RSS involved in terror activities.

Mumbai: In a twist to the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case, the National Investigating Agency on Friday filed a supplementary charge-sheet before the court and gave a clean chit to Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and five other accused. It also revoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act from the case including Lt Col Prasad Shrikant Purohit.

The NIA said Lt Col Purohit had organised several meetings with the other accused and had collected money for procuring weapons and explosives.

The Congress attacked the NDA government, alleging it was trying to save people belonging to RSS involved in terror activities. Union minister Kiren Rijiju said there was no interference in the probe.

Sadhvi needs to file application
Sadhvi Pragya was not discharged from the case immediately because she would be required to file a discharge application.

The ATS had arrested her and the chargesheet against her is on record. The second option would be to wait for the court to take suo motu decision on the basis of ATS chargesheet which said that prosecution against her and five others was not maintainable.

Analysing evidences against Sadhvi Pragya the NIA has said that though LML Freedom motorcycle was used in the blast but the agency has said that it is evident and is on record that the said motorcycle was in the possession of accused Ram Chandra Kalsangra alias Ramji and was being used by him well before the blast.
