Hyderabad: Gram panchayat merger GO stayed

While granting the interim order, the judge asked the respondents to file counter affidavits.

Hyderabad: A GO issued by the TS government de-notifying Peerzadiguda, Parvathapur and Medipally gram panchayats to merge them for constituting Peerzadiguda municipality in Ranga Reddy district has been suspended on an interim basis by Justice S.V. Bhatt of the Hyderabad High Court.

MPTC members D. Prabhakar Reddy and D. Chandrakala, who moved a petition before the court, contended that the GO was issued without due procedure being followed.

Sarasani Satyam Reddy, senior counsel appearing for the petitioners, contended that their term as MPTCs is valid till July 2019, and the government has no right to cut it short since they are elected representatives. While granting the interim order, the judge asked the respondents to file counter affidavits.
