YSRC asks Governor ESL Narasimhan to move ECI against Naidu

Naidu went to the extent of belittling the ECI-appointed Chief Secretary by calling him a ‘co-accused’

Vijayawada: The YSRC has requested Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to ask the ECI to book Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu under the Representation of People Act for his comments on Chief Secretary L.V. Subramanyam who was appointed by the Election Commission.

“Naidu went to the extent of belittling the ECI-appointed Chief Secretary by calling him a ‘co-accused’, comments that have the indirect effect of defaming L.V. Subramanyam and intimidating all those civil servants acting under the oversight of the Commission when the Model Code of Conduct is in force,” YSRC general secretary V. VIjaya Sai Reddy said in a letter to the Governor.

“The comments are derogatory, detrimental to the authority of ECl, besides hurting the morale of civil servants at all levels working as part of the election establishment. Such comments tend to belittle the democratic traditions of the country and demean the authority of the commission which is acting in pursuance of the authority conferred on it by Article 324 of the Constitution,” Mr Reddy said.
