New command control room soon for GHMC
HYDERABAD: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is all set to inaugurate its command control room next week. The private agency had been installing mega LED screen of 10X28 metres. The operational screen would be handed over to the corporation on Wednesday. The civic body decided to set up its first command-control room giving it access to CCTV footage of all localities with police department help.
The corporation headquarters would have a large LED screen to enable it monitor emergency situations as also day-to-day progress of civic works. The zonal and circle offices would have 38 smaller screens. The corporation would access CCTV footage with the co-operation of the police department. The GHMC would also set up its own cameras to monitor progress of works. For this, the civic authorities would equip mobile phones of its staff with an inhouse-developed software when they would be at the project sites.
Higher officials would also be able to talk to the field staff via video conference with the facility. Offices of the Mayor, commissioner and additional commissioners would also have smaller screens. The agency would maintain it for five years while the back-end support would be provided by the corporation’s IT wing. The project would help save time to respond to emergencies, an official said.
