Girls perform better than boys again: Kadiyam Srihari

A total of 265,360 candidates, or 62.73 per cent, have passed the second-year examination.

Hyderabad: Girls have outperformed boys in the second-year examination results of the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TBIE), Minister for Education and Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said on Friday morning at TBIE in Nampally, Hyderabad. A total of 265,360 candidates, or 62.73 per cent, have passed the second-year examination. While the pass percentage for girls is 72.70, the percentage for boys stands at 60.99.

A total of 415,366 candidates appeared for the first-year examination, held in March 2018, while 395,721 general students and 74,613 reserved category students appeared for the second-year examinations, comprising 205,086 girls and 190,635 boys.

Srihari said the pass percentage has improved by nearly five per cent for first-year students compared to the results for the last three years, and 0.6 per cent for second-year students. While 53.55 per cent of students passed the exam in 2016, 57.37 per passed in 2017. About 62.95 per cent of students passed the Inter Vocational exam in 2016, whereas 67 per cent passed in 2017 and 67.06 per cent in 2018.
