Bengaluru: Two occupants were burnt alive inside two vehicles when a container truck crashed into a stationary long chassis truck at an RTO check post in Attibele on the outskirts of the city on Friday early morning.
The accident occurred around 2.30 am on Friday and the deceased were identified as Velmurugan (24) from Tamil Nadu and Bilal (22) from Bihar.
According to the police, RTO officials flagged down the long-chassis truck carrying the blade for a wind turbine at the RTO check-post in Attibele police limits.
As the driver of the long-chassis truck slowed down, the container truck driven by Velmurugan crashed into the other truck.
Both the vehicles caught fire claiming the lives of the two occupants in the two vehicles.
"Bilal, who was a machine operator, was sitting inside the cabin in the long chassis truck. The moment the container truck rammed into the other truck, a fire broke out inside the cabin and Bilal was charred to death. The fire also broke out inside the driver's cabin of the container truck and Velmurugan tried to escape, but could not," the police said. The police said that the accident may have also taken place as the area was poorly lit.
The container truck carrying clothes and other stuff was heading towards Chennai from Bengaluru, while the long-chassis truck was going from Doddaballapura and to Tamil Nadu, the police said.
