Telangana: Builder gets two months jail for misleading court

The builder had approached the High Court in 2013, challenging a notice for demolition of his residential complex.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has sentenced a builder to two months simple imprisonment in a contempt case.

Justice C. Praveen Kumar, while allowing the contempt case by Manikonda gram panchayat, sentenced K. Prabhakar Reddy a builder from Manikonda for wilfully disobeying court orders.

The builder had approached the High Court in 2013, challenging a notice for demolition of his residential complex at Manikonda issued by the gram panchayat.

Despite the court granting stay on any construction activity, the builder completed the constructions in utter violation of the sanctioned plan and sold the flats; he even got them registered them in the name of the buyers.

While holding that the conduct of the builder seriously undermined the majesty of the court, the judge said “I feel that it is a fit case where he must be sentenced with simple imprisonment for two months besides paying a fine of Rs 2,000
