Visakhapatnam: Don't sell SIMS to strangers, warns Commissioner of Police
Documents of genuine customers forged.

Visakhapatnam: Commissioner of Police Amit Garg warned the service providers of mobile networks of action if they would not take any measures to curb selling pre-activated SIMS to unknown persons.
The city police chief on Wednesday held a meeting with all the service providers and dwelt on the irregularities in selling SIM cards to public through retailers and agents without following the DoT guidelines.
Mr Garg highlighted the latest incident in the city in which the City Task Force police arrested three persons of private mobile service networks for selling pre-activated prepaid SIM cards to unknown persons for higher prices by forging the documents of the genuine customers and seized over 1,350 pre-activated SIM cards.
Expressing displeasure over the business strategies, the police officer maintained that in the mad rush of market share and business expansion, the dealers have been flouting the guidelines and security norms and issuing pre-activated SIM cards to the agents and retailers. The agents and retailers are selling the activated sIM cards to unknown persons by forging the documents of genuine customers.
Highlighting the possible dangers to the nation if the SIM cards fell into wrong hands by their practice, the CP warned the service providers to correct the irregularities, maintain proper records and strictly adher to the DoT guidelines in the interest of public and nation.
