U-turn by NIA in Malegaon case a joke: Asaduddin Owaisi
Hyderabad: MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday described the U-turn by the National investigation Agency on the Malegaon blast case as a “joke and travesty of justice”.
Interacting with media personnel at party headquarters Darussalam regarding the NIA’s latest move opposing the discharge application of the nine Muslims arrested in the Malegaon blast case, he accused the NIA of “playing politics at the behest of their political masters and on the dead bodies of the 37 people who were killed in the blast”.
Asserting that this would be a unique case in the annals of the Indian legal system if on Thursday the court agreed that the discharge petition would not be allowed for the nine Muslim men who had been given a clean chit, he said, “Now the trail will run on what basis? Who are the main perpetrators, nine Muslims or eight Hindus?”
On no one filing bail cancellation petitions of Swami Aseemanand, the Mecca Masjid bomb blast case accused and hostile witnesses in the Ajmer blast case, he said that this was a very clear-cut message that in terrorist cases, if there was a non-Muslim accused, the present political dispensation would go soft on them.
He demanded that Centre immediately discharge the nine Muslim youths because while a party may come to power and go, the government was a continuous entity.
Late on Tuesday, while addressing a public meeting in the Old City, Mr Owaisi expressed shock at the death of Mohammed Jalaluddin, 19, who had died of burns while practising stunts for a television reality show. He appealed to the youth to refrain from such acts.
