Hyderabad: A bench of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday ordered notice to the tahsildar of Majidpur in Shameerpur mandal of Medchal Malkajgiri district on a PIL filed by S. Ashok Reddy. The petitioner contended that officials had failed to act on his complaints of encroachment and illegal construction on gramakantam land in Survey No.s 40 and 48. The land was earmarked for people from the weaker section he said and sought a detailed probe into the activities of the secretary, gram panchayat. The bench ordered the official to respond and adjourned the matter to April 11.
HC to examine quota in vet. assistant posts
The action of the state government in enhancing certain reservations in the category of Scheduled Castes in the posts of veterinary assistants will be judicially scrutinised by the Telangana High Court. A division bench of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji ordered notice in a writ plea filed by Sai Hiteshwar Reddy questioning the enhancement of reservations from six to 10 per cent, and the consequential notification issued by the TS Public Service Commission as arbitrary and illegal. The bench directed the matter to be listed on June 15 to enable the state and the PSC to respond.
No anticipatory bail for land grab accused
Justice C Sumalatha of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday dismissed an anticipatory bail petition filed by Pasham Srinu of Bhongir Yadadri. The petitioner was arrayed as an accused in a land grabbing case filed by Gonthina Hymavathi in the Adibatla police station. The complainant informed the court that she had bought a piece of land admeasuring seven acres and 30 guntas in Adibatla and obtained a passbook. After a few days, she received a message that a new passbook was issued. She approached the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration and got to know that an unidentified person had applied for the passbook. She procured the mobile number of the person and called him about the request for passbook. It was brought to light that upon the petitioner’s instructions, an unidentified person had done so. The prosecution stated that there were 13 cases pending against the petitioner. The judge denied anticipatory bail and dismissed the petition.
CID told to remove name from wanted list
Justice B Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed the CID to remove the name of Bommaraju Krishna, a resident of Hayathnagar, Hyderabad, from its most wanted list. The judge was dealing with a writ plea filed Krishna, who stated that he was an employee of a multinational company prior to his name being included in the list. It was contended that the petitioner was arrayed as an accused in a case of domestic violence. His name was entered in the list without a court verdict and without following due process of law, thereby depriving him of his livelihood and further job opportunities.
Counsel for the petitioner contended that irreparable loss had occurred to the petitioner for which an amount of Rs 10 lakh had to be paid towards compensation. The judge observed that the action of the CID was arbitrary and directed it to remove the petitioner's name from the list and granted the petitioner liberty to claim damages from the department in the appropriate forum.
Produce missing person: HC to Kalapathar police
A two-judge bench of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed the Kalapathar police to produce a missing person in a case of habeas corpus. The bench of Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili and Justice Pulla Karthik was dealing with a plea filed by Mohammed Khan, a hexagenerian, to produce his son Md Mazher Khan whose detention whereabouts were unknown. The prosecution informed the court that Mazher Khan was summoned to the police station to be served with a Section 41A notice after which he was absconding. The bench directed the authorities to produce Mazher Khan on March 28.
