Vijayawada: Prominent industrialist Potluri Vara Prasad from Vijayawada joined the YSR Congress on Wednesday.
PVP, as Mr Vara Prasad is popularly known, met YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at his Lotus Pond residence in Hyderabad and joined the party.
Mr Vara Prasad is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and educationalist. He has his own production company called PVP Cinemas and he is also a patron in the LV Prasad Eye Institute.
He is expected to contest for the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat. Speaking to reporters after formally joining the party, Mr Vara Prasad said that he was born and educated in Vijayawada, so developing the city was his main agenda. He said that Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy had a clear vision of how to develop the state capital.
The industrialist said that he too had the same priority because they saw development of the state as their main agenda and not politics.
When asked about the film industry, Mr Vara Prasad said that he would request the Telugu film producers to jointly conduct events in both the capital cities. He would also create an environment where they can come and also produce films in AP. “The idea was also to make Vijayawada a fun city,” he said.
