Mysuru based MVPL to supply 26 lakh bottles of poll ink

MPVL is the only public sector company authorised to produce the indelible ink for elections for the entire Country.

Mysuru: Mysuru based Mysore Paints and Varnish Limited (MPVL) has received an order for 26 lakh bottles of indelible liquid ink to mark the fingers of voters during Loksabha polls ahead, from Election commission of India. And it has already delivered more than 20 lakh bottles of indelible ink and it will supply the remaining order in a week's time, MPVL sources said. MPVL is the only public sector company authorised to produce the indelible ink for elections for the entire Country.

"We received orders in the beginning of January this year. While each bottle measures 10 ml, with one bottle of indelible liquid ink atleast 400 people can be marked. The total turnover of the entire order is Rs 33 Crores," MPVL sources said.

The secret formula prepared by National Resource Defence Corporation, is being used and the Company is manufacturing ink for all the elections of India under Tripartite agreement between Election Commission of India, NRDC and the MPVL.

The company which was started by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar to manufacture paints and related products in 1937, became public sector company since 1947. And it has been chosen by election commission of India to manufacture indelible ink since 1962 and was first used for third general election in India.
