Liquor cache seized in Shivamogga
Shivamogga: Sleuths of the excise department in Shivamogga unearthed liquor stocked in houses in various parts of the district and arrested seven people in this connection. Two-wheelers have also been seized from them.
Shivamogga Excise Deputy Commissioner Basavaraj told Deccan Chronicle that the raids took place in Soraba, Bhadravathi, and others places. As high as 7,526 litres of liquor valued at Rs 35 lakh were seized. The arrested have been remanded in judicial custody.
Meanwhile in Hassan, unaccounted cash of Rs 3 lakh was seized from an individual travelling in a car at Mailanahalli check-post by Static Surveillance Team (SST) officials. The car (KA03 MN5850) was coming from Tiptur in Tumakuru when SST officials intercepted it. Car occupant, Ranganath Giri (53), a resident of Bhadravathi in Shivamogga, could not give convincing answers to the queries posed by SST officials and the cash was seized.
