Kurnool: Cops seize gold, Rs 88 lakh cash from bus, two arrested
Kurnool: The Dhone police during a vehicle search conducted in the early hours of Wednesday, seized unaccounted amount of Rs 88.22 lakhs and more than one kilogram of gold. Two persons were taken into custody.
The Dhone SDPO, S. Khader Basha addressed a press conference at his office. He said with the election code in force the Superintendent of Police (SP), Dr Fakkerappa Kaginelli had ordered to intensify vehicle checking.
“Following the orders of the SP we are conducting vehicle checking round the clock at the check posts at border and inter district check posts,” the officer said.
“On not producing evidential proofs, we have seized the amount of Rs 88.22 lakhs besides gold weighing one kilo and 220 grams that costs around Rs 38 lakhs. On enquiry, it was found that they belong to Vijay Jamshed Jewellery shop in Bangalore. Earlier on Tuesday, one kilogram of gold ornaments have been seized at Sunkesula check post and on the same day around Rs 15 lakhs was also seized at various places in the district,” he said.
