Hyderabad: Sub-registrar held for links with Mohammed Nayeemuddin

The land originally belonged to M. Venkateshwar Rao, which was grabbed by Nayeemuddin and registered on the name of his benami.

Hyderabad: The Bhongir (Town) police arrested the sub-registrar of Bhongir for allegedly having links with the associates of the slain gangster Mohammed Nayeemuddin and for carrying out registration of benami land using photocopies.

According to the Bhongir police, Sahadev, was arrested for carrying out registration of the benami land which was on the name of Tumma Srinivas. The land originally belonged to M. Venkateshwar Rao, which was grabbed by Nayeemuddin and registered on the name of his benami.

The Special Investigation Team, which is probing the cases booked against the slain gangster and his aides, had earlier informed the revenue department to not encourage the registration of lands in certain survey numbers, as the original documents are in the possession of the SIT, and more so because the lands were grabbed from the public. “Despite knowing that, the SRO carried out the registration process using the photocopies of the original land documents,” said the police.
