Chennai: RPF hands over misplaced bag on train to passenger

The incident occurred when the man identified as Jayaram, a resident of Anbu Nagar in Tiruchy, was travelling to Chennai on Mangalore express.

Chennai: Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel in Chennai handed over a bag containing Rs 81,000 to a man on Wednesday morning after he misplaced his bag it on a train to Chennai.

The incident occurred when the man identified as Jayaram, a resident of Anbu Nagar in Tiruchy, was travelling to Chennai on Mangalore express. According to police, Jayaram forgot his handbag which contained cash and Aadaar card and tickets and got out of the train in Chennai Egmore. After the train moved out of Chennai Egmore he realised that he had left his bag on his seat. He immediately informed the railway police force personnel who were on their rounds at the railway station.

Immediately constable Sachin Kumar Yadav, who was on office sentry duty, passed the message to on-duty RPF staff H.C. Tirupathy on at platform no.5 at Tambaram railway station. The bag containing Rs 81,260 Aadaar card and onward train journey ticket for Shirdi Saibaba temple darshan was secured from the train.

After verifying the passenger’s identity by the inspector, RPF, Chennai Egmore, the bag was handed over to him with acknowledgement. He expressed heartiest thanks to the RPF, police said.
