Bhubaneswar: Groom dumps 2nd girl, flees
Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed at Soro in Odisha’s Balasore district after a bridegroom ditched the marriage procession that was on its way to the wedding venue late on Tuesday night, after coming to known that the police was waiting for him.
According to sources, the groom, Jitendra Nayak of Jagannathpur village under Raghunathpur police limits in Bhadrak district was involved with a girl and had established physical relations with her after promising her marriage.
When Nayak ditched her, the girl lodged a complaint with Basudevpur police.
Following this, the police was waiting for Nayak at the venue of his wedding to another girl of Soro area. Sensing trouble, he jumped off the car and fled.
Though the police officials tried to search for Nayak, they could not trace him.
“He promised to marry me but his family members are marrying him off secretly, as per his wishes. I will commit suicide if he marries someone else. I want justice,” the girl said.
“We have registered a case. The accused is absconding. We have sent teams to trace him and he will be arrested soon,” said inspector Umashankar Nayak.
Meanwhile, the family members of the bride also said that they would lodge a complaint with Soro police.
