Vigilance rejects V S Achuthanandan petition on Pattoor land

The court rejected the petition on the ground that the High Court had already quashed the first-information-report in this regard.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Inquiry Commission and Special Court (Vigilance) here on Tuesday rejected a petition of the Administrative Reforms Commission chairman and former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan for further action on a petition filed by him a couple of years back on the Pattoor land encroachment issue. The court rejected the petition on the ground that the High Court had already quashed the first-information-report in this regard.

Mr. Achuthanandan’s counsel Mr S Chandrasekharan Nair said that an appeal would be filed at the High Court stating that the FIR quashed was one initiated suo-motto by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau and no action was initiated by the special court on the petition filed by Mr. Achuthanandan prior to that. All allegations raised in Achuthanandan’s petition were not mentioned in the FIR that was quashed, he said.
