Kollam: The CPI, in a controversial act following the suicide of Sugathan, a gulf-returnee at Elambal in Punalur, has given a warm reception to the accused AIYF leaders who came out of jail on bail. The party organised a function at Kunnikkode junction according reception to the accused M.S. Gireesh, Kunnikkode constituency president, AIYF workers Imesh, 34, and Satheesh, 32.
The function was attended by AIYF district secretary Jagat Jeevan Lali, AIYF constituency secretary M. Mahesh among other CPI local leaders.
The Kollam Principal and Sessions Court had granted bail to the accused on Monday. The AIYF workers were arrested by Kunnikkode police in connection with the suicide of Sugathan, charging section 306 of IPC for abetment of suicide. The state human rights commission has also sought report from the district collector and the rural SP police on the suicide.
