Bengaluru: One more IPS officer cries foul over transfer

Stating that he had just completed eight months as SP Koppal, he had reportedly approached the CAT against the transfer.

Bengaluru: Two days after ADGP RP Sharma's controversial letter to the chief secretary complaining of government meddling in the functioning of the police department, kicked up a storm, another IPS officer is learnt to have moved the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) questioning his ‘premature transfer.’

On Monday, the state government had transferred Dr Anup Shetty, superintendent of police, Koppal district to the Police Intelligence Department, Bengaluru. Stating that he had just completed eight months as SP Koppal, he had reportedly approached the CAT against the transfer. The outcome of his decision to approach the CAT was not known as Dr Shetty did not take calls made to his mobile phone nor did he reply to a SMS sent to him.

According to reports, Dr Shetty has won the hearts of people of Koppal with his work in the last eight months. It was alleged that local politicians who were not happy with his work, had reportedly exerted pressure on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to move him out of the district.
