He was speaking to media persons at YSRC office in Nellore on Monday.

Nellore: YSR Congress district convener and Sarveypalli legislator Kakani Govardhan Reddy said he will resign from his MLA post if his arch rival and MLC Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy swear that he does not have any ill-gotten wealth and take an oath that he believes that all the documents he produced as proof for properties amassed by Somireddy are fake.

He was speaking to media persons at YSRC office in Nellore on Monday. It may be recalled that Govardhan Reddy had levelled allegations armed with some documents that the senior Telugu Desam leader Somireddy had amassed huge properties in India and abroad in the name of family members. Taking strong objection against allegations, Somireddy had lodged a complaint with Nellore rural police asking to probe on the authenticity of the papers produced to the media by Govardhan Reddy.

Police investigated the case and arrested three persons for producing fake documents of different foreign banks and supplying them to Govardhan Reddy. In this backdrop, the senior YSRC leader maintained that the case would have been investigated by ED or CBI since the bank transactions and properties pertains to foreign countries. He ridiculed Somireddy attacking him based on local police investigation.

Displaying a resignation letter he prepared, he said he would submit it to the Speaker if Somireddy is ready to swear that his allegations and documentary evidence are not authentic. Govardhan Reddy reiterated that family members of MLC Somireddy have shares in 13 power projects and his son has shares in nine companies and wife in three companies apart from his own shares.

He also alleged that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been trying to dilute local body authorities. Kakani Govardhan Reddy called upon the local body members of YSRC, who migrated to the ruling party, to vote as per the guidance of their conscience.
