Sixteen-year-old Kesava Kirupa Dinakaran was selected as the assistant director at the annual UN conference.

Chennai: A class 12 student of Chettinad Vidhyashramam has bagged an opportunity to address the United Nations International Conference for Women in China. Sixteen-year-old Kesava Kirupa Dinakaran was selected as the assistant director at the annual UN conference, as part of the Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN)

“They selected me after an elaborate Skype interview. Questions pertaining to social issues and about the importance of United Nations were asked,” said the student. He will be monitoring the committee on violence against women, which will have approximately 150 participants. “Assault against women is an intense violation of human rights. With issues related to women abuse escalating, I found myself related to the topic,” said the lad who is updating himself about the topic. The three-day conference at Beijing, China will commence from March 17.

It is the experience of participating in over 15 model United Nations in the city that had toned up the debating skills in the lad. “I would be debating about issues in a broader level. Scrutinizing a solution has to be done through key points,” Kesava mentioned. The student, a resident of Thiruvanmiyur, had also won Guinness Book of World Records for solving a 305 Rubik’s cube in an
hour.
