Nellore: In the wake of the resignation of Chirala legislator Amanchi Krishna Mohan on Wednesday, TD directed senior leader and MLC Karanam Balaram to rush to Chirala and prevent migration of other TD cadres and second rung leaders to YSRC along with Krishna Mohan.
Sources said that former leader Daggubati Venkateswar Rao had prevailed upon Amanchi to join YSRC.
It may be recalled that Venkateswar Rao met Jagan recently to pave the way for his son Hithesh to enter YSRC and contest from Parchur assembly segment. So TD picked a leader who is known to have differences with Mr Rao for a longtime, aka Karanam Balaram, to contain possible damage to the party in the Chirala segment.
Interestingly, a section of TD leaders burst crackers at the clock tower centre in Chirala to celebrate the departure of Krishna Mohan from the party.
If a section of the TD was happy to see Amanchi go, a section of YSRC were not happy to see him being welcomed into their party.
Those who opposed his entry, expressed displeasure over the party decision and set fire to tires to highlight their ire against the party decision.
They have questioned the rationale of giving a green signal to Amanchi ignoring their hard work to strengthen the party over the last five years.
