RSP willing to return to LDF
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On the eve of Lok Sabha elections, RSP national general secretary Kshiti Goswami has said that his party was not averse to returning to the LDF fold in Kerala.
The veteran RSP leader said the LDF was the natural habitat for his party in Kerala. “CPM could take the lead in speaking to us about the possibility of returning to the LDF. So far nothing has come from their side,” he said.
He added the matter was discussed with the central leadership of the CPM earlier. However, they want the issue to be settled in Kerala. RSP is part of the Left Front at the centre comprising CPM, CPI, RSP, Forw-ard Bloc, CPI(ML) Liberation and SUCI.
Mr Goswami said in the election year many questions need to be sorted out before discussing the issue of return to LDF. “We are open. If they want to talk with us we will discuss the terms and conditions. It was due to their attitude that we were thrown out of the LDF in Kerala.
The RSP general secretary said the CPM could have taken the lead in offering one of Rajya Sabha seats to his party. The issue in Kerala was related to personal animosity and not to any contentious ideological issue, he said.
Though unviable, a section of RSP leaders believe a “ghar wapsi” is possible if the CPM comes out with a formula to give Kollam seat to them. The LDF leaders, however, do not see such a possibility. “There is a new trend in Kerala unit of RSP. They are moving towards the BJP also. Now RSP in Kerala has become a bridge between the Congress and BJP,” said LDF convenor A Vijaya-raghavan.
