Hyderabad: A new trend that has been taking social media by storm, is numerous women across the globe sharing horrific incidents of them being groped, even in religious places.

The campaign was widely shared with the tag, ‘Women are not safe anywhere.’ Many stories regarding harassment at crowded places were revealed.

Priya Reddy, a psychologist says, “It is not surprising that even many minors are arrested by the police for harassing women. These students need proper counselling. Many friends hang out in crowded places to lech at women, knowing that they can escape easily and that many victims will not raise their voices to create a scene. It is pure arrogance that leads to people doing as they please in crowded places.”

She also stated that most women feel like they are forced to accept inappropriate touching, fondling and pinching as it is a part of a crowded place.

However, that thinking should change. The police had booked 30 men, 22 adults and 8 minors in Telangana for harassing women during the final day of the Ganesh procession and immersion in 2017.
