CPM calls to strengthen grassroots
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The two-day CPM state committee meeting which began at the AKG Centre here on Tuesday approved the political organisational report to be presented at the state conference being held in Thrissur from February 22 to 25. Earlier the state secretariat in the presence of politburo members S. Ramachandran Pillai and M .A. Baby had finalized the report for placing before the state committee. The report will now be presented at the state conference in Thrissur where it will be formally adopted.
The report has outlined the measures for strengthening the party at the grassroots level especially in the wake of the challenge posed by Sangh Parivar. The party believes that in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls, the attack on the LDF government and the CPM in particular, is expected to increase. The Sangh Parivar is desperate to make inroads in the Left strongholds and the developments in the last one year had clearly hinted to what extent the BJP-RSS combine can go.
The state committee will review the reports placed in the district conferences on the existing strength and weakness of the party and the road map announced by the leadership for next three years. Sources said the issue of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's son Binoy Kodiyeri who is facing a travel ban and case in Dubai, was not raised by any member.
