Uncaring corporate hospitals anger Hyderabad High Court
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday expressed displeasure at corporate hospitals for not filing counter affidavits despite its notice in a PIL seeking to prevent the illegal, unethical, exploitation medical practises committing by corporate hospitals and nursing homes in both the states.
A division bench comprising Justices V. Ramasubramanian and J. Uma Devi was dealing with a PIL by Narender Kazipeta, whose sister T. Sunitha died, due to the alleged negligence of Care Hospitals.
The petitioner, referring to the ‘height increasing surgery’ by a corporate hospital of the city, urged the court to direct the authorities to initiate action against the errant hospitals and doctors.
After noticing that despite notices the respondent hospitals failed to file their affidavits, the bench said that it was granting a last chance for them to do so. If they fail to file affidavits, the court can feel that they don’t have any defence on their side, the bench said. Granting two weeks to the respondent hospitals, the bench adjourned the hearing.
