Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said Polavaram was close to his heart, for which reason he had been reviewing it every week. He appealed to the officials and contractors to come to him directly at any time to discuss Polavaram issues. On Monday, Mr Naidu conducted a virtual inspection from the Secretariat at Velagapudi.
He directed the officials to expedite the works as it might lag behind the schedule if if delayed. Mr Naidu said he would speak directly to the respective companies supplying steel and cement to the project and direct them to do it without any shortage. He said he would make payments to these companies directly from the government.
He announced of appointing a liaison officer to bring the machinery piled up at the ports to the project area to reduce the transit delay. The Chief Minister announced about constructing a museum and an exhibition centre near the project site and assigned fresh targets to the officials concerned on the spillway and earth works.
