CM K Chandrasekhar Rao asks Rajnath for more AIS officers
Hyderabad: Continuing his parleys with Union ministers in Delhi for the second consecutive day, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday met Union home minister Rajnath Singh and sought an early decision on the demand to increase the number of Assembly seats in TS from the existing 119 to 153, as promised in the AP Bifurcation Act.
Mr Rao reminded Mr Singh that the Centre had promised to implement various issues in the Bifurcation Act, but had not followed assurances with action, especially on the increase in the number of Assembly seats.
He suggested an amendment suitably incorporating a clause so that fresh delimitation of Assembly constituencies could be taken up before the 2019 general elections.
The CM also sought Union home ministry’s intervention to resolve the pending issues confronting establishment of separate High Courts for both TS and AP.
He later met Chief Justice of India T.S. Thakur and pleaded with him to initiate steps regarding setting up the High Courts.
Briefing newsmen in Delhi, MP A.P. Jitender Reddy and the TS government’s special representative S. Venugopala Chary said that Mr Rao had pressed for early completion of the process of division of government employees and officers among the two states.
The CM also requested the Union home minister to increase the allotment of All India Services officers to TS.
