Tirumala, Tirupati to host Goda Kalyanam and Paruveta Utsavam

The festivities will involve taking the garlands of Goddess Andal in a procession from the Pedda Jeeyar Swamy Mutt to the Srivaru temple

Tirupati: Elaborate celebrations have been planned in Tirupati and Tirumala for Sri Goda Kalyanam on Monday and the Paruveta Utsavam on Tuesday

Sri Goda Kalyanam will be held on Monday evening at the parade grounds of the TTD Administration building between 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm.

The processional deities of Lord Krishna and Goddess Andal will be specially decorated for the celestial wedding ceremony to be performed by the temple priest. Students of SV College of Music and Dance will also present a Goda Kalyanam dance performance.

The next day, January 16, marks the annual Paruveta Utsavam, or mock hunt festival, in Tirumala. The festivities will involve taking the garlands of Goddess Andal in a procession from the Pedda Jeeyar Swamy Mutt to the Srivaru temple at 9 am. Later, at 1 pm, the deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy and Lord Krishna will be taken to the Paruveta Mandapam for the hunting enactment rituals and celebrations before returning to the temple in the evening.
