Jagan celebrates Sankranti with pujas

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his wife Y.S. Bharati participated in the Sankranti celebrations at the Chief Minister's house at Tadepalli on Sunday and wished everyone a prosperous and victorious Sankranti, Bhogi, and Kanuma.

The Sankranti celebrations have started grandly reflecting the traditions of Telugu culture in which the Chief Minister and his wife lit bonfires in traditional clothes, and participated in the Gopuja programme.

Attired in traditional dress, the Chief Minister couple worshipped cows at the Goshala and offered prayers at Vinayaka, Venkateswara Swamy and Kanaka
Durga temples, besides offering Bhiksha to Haridasu and the Sankranti Gangireddu. Vedic pundits blessed the couple reciting hymns and presenting
new clothes.

Reflecting Sankranti grandeur, the camp office premises were spruced up with
flowers and traditional Muggulu while the replica of Tirumala Silathoranam
hogged the limelight. Replicas of the village secretariat, Government School and
Rythu Bharosa Kendram also attracted the attention of the guests.

Going around the premises, the Chief Minister and his wife greeted the guests individually. They lit the bonfire (Bhogi Manta). The couple also witnessed cultural programmes and listened to the devotional numbers rendered by famous singers Sri Lalitha and others. Later, the Chief Minister felicitated the artists. Interestingly various singers sung songs written on Jagan and the YSRC government welfare schemes and development programmes.

Several YSRC leaders including government chief whip Chevireddy Bhaskara
Reddy, Deputy Chief Ministers Kottu Satyanarayana (Endowments) and Narayana Swamy (Excise and Commercial Taxes), Municipal Administration Minister A, Suresh, YSRC Regional Coordinator YV Subba Reddy, MP Nandigam Suresh and other leaders participated in the festivities.

and locals.

Tourism minister R.K. Roja conducted traditional Bhogi in her house at Nagari with family, leaders and the local public. She said people are happy with the governance of Jagan and they are going to give another chance to the YSRC in the 2024 elections. Former minister and Nellore city MLA P. Anil Kumar Yadav participated in the Bhogi bonfire with locals and further former minister and Telugu Desam leader P Narayana also conducted the Bhogi bonfire at Nellore.

Former minister and Vijayawada West MLA Velampalli Srinivas celebrated Bhogi
in one-town of Vijayawada city. AP Planning Board vice-chairman and
Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishu joined the Bhogi bonfire at Besant Road
in the city and Vijayawada East in-charge Devineni Avinash attended Bhogi
celebration in the city.
