liaison officer sells stolen gold, arrested

The man, identified as K. Sammaiah, 50, claimed that he found the bag and picked it up, police said.

Hyderabad: A liaison officer of TSRTC at HCU bus depot in Gachibowli was apprehended by the West Zone Task Force on Sunday for stealing a bag containing gold ornaments which was recovered intact from his possession.

The man, identified as K. Sammaiah, 50, claimed that he found the bag and picked it up, police said.

“On December 12, Sammaiah and his family went to attend a function at Yellamma Temple in Balkampet of SR Nagar, after which at about 7 pm, he came to the parking lot and observed that there was a bag on his bike, containing seven tola gold and a smartphone. He took the bag and fled from the spot” said the DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force, P. Radhakrishna Rao.

On Sunday, when he came to Mythrivanam in Ameerpet to sell the gold, the West Zone Task Force team apprehended him and seized the stolen gold ornaments and cellphone.

“The man and the stolen loot was handed over to the SR Nagar police for further investigation,” concluded the official.
