Sabarimala makaravilakku' today

Among two boxes carrying the Thiruvabharanam, one will be taken to Sannidhanam and the other to Malikappuram.

Kottayam: The procession carrying the Thiruvabharanam (ornaments of the Lord) to drape in the idol of Lord Ayyappa will reach Sabarimala on Sunday.

The Makaravilakku festival will be held on Sunday. Tens of thousands of people will throng at least 30 view points to get a glance of Makatajyothi around 6.40 pm.

The procession reached the lodging facility of the forest department at Laha on Saturday travelling through the Puthiyakavu Devi temple, Kottanankavu Bhagavathy temple, Peroorchal, Vadasserikara Mandapam, Prayar temple, Madaman temple, Poovathumoodu and Laha Thevar temple.

The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) authorities will give a reception to the procession at Saramkuthi on Sunday, after traversing Plapally, Naranathu, Nilakkal temple, Valiyanavattam, Pandi Thavalam, Neelimala, Appachimedu and Sabari Peedam.

Among two boxes carrying the Thiruvabharanam, one will be taken to Sannidhanam and the other to Malikappuram.

The Thanthri and the Melsanthi will receive the boxes and drape the Thiruvabharanam in the idol of Lord Ayyappa.

The Makara Jyothi is expected to appear at the Ponnambalamedu and Makara Nakshatram in the sky.

It was on Friday that the procession started its journey from the Valiyakoyikkal temple at Pandalam. Guruswamy Kukathinal Gangadharan Pillai is carrying the box containing the Thiruvabharanam and Marutgamaba Sivan Pillai the silver ornaments.

Kizhakkethottathil Prathapa Chandran Nair will carry another box.

Around 3,000 police personnel will be deployed at various points in Sabarimala in view of Makaravilakku festival.
