THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has announced formation of Kerala Development Fund that offers an investment-cum-re-employment opportunity for the NRKs.

Forming chamber of commerce of NRKs as well as professional bodies of NRKs in foreign countries are among the other concrete outcomes of the maiden Loka Kerala Sabha session organised by the state government, which concluded here on Saturday.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in his valedictory address, said that the proposed Kerala Development Fund would be a major leap in ensuring an investment that offer good returns and re-employment to pravasis. The plan is to offer option for depositing specific amounts to various projects by NRKs. Once NRK investors return permanently, they would be given employment in these projects in accordance with their qualifications.

Another initiative by the state government was to create chamber of commerce of NRKs in foreign countries and link those with the similar chambers in Kerala. “This could ensure a better network between the local industry and commerce as well as the NRK industrialists,” said the Chief Minister.

Creating professional bodies of NRKs in other countries was another proposal being taken forward by the government.

The Chief Minister said that the LKS secretariat would give definite shape to the proposals that came up at the sabha and will give recommendations to the government. An effective follow-up mechanism would be also made, he said.
