Hyderabad: Foundation-stone for Videshi Bhavan will be laid in February. K.T. Rama Rao, IT minister, asked the Rangareddy district collector to take steps for the ceremony. Mr Rao had invited external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj to lay the foundation-stone for Videshi Bhavan.

A meeting was held at the Secretariat on Saturday where home minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy and Mr Rama Rao discussed the preparations with the police, NRI affairs team and district collectors.

They also discussed ways to check illegal agents. The government has decided to take stringent action against the illegal agents who were cheating people while sending them to the Gulf countries.

The agents are given a one-month time to register with the e-migrate portal. The police will register criminal cases against the unregistered agents.

Rama Rao said, “Measures have to be taken to create awareness about the schemes taken up by the central and state governments for NRIs. Stringent measures have to be taken against human trafficking and fraudulent marriages.”

The minister appreciated the steps taken by the state police. The meeting was attended by DGP Mahendar Reddy and others.
