Hyderabad: Stir threat from auto drivers

Hyderabad: Autorickshaw drivers’ unions have threatened indefinite strikes seeking rollback of the decision on revised vehicle registration and other fee. The unions on Friday announced that they would start the agitation from January 17 across the state.

Speaking at a press conference, Auto Union leaders A. Satthi Reddy (Telangana Auto Drivers Federation), V. Kiran (IFTU), B.Venkatesham (AITUC), Eshwaraiah (CITU), Sailu (BMS), Amanullah Khan (JAC) and others said that the revised fee would be a burden to autorickshaw drivers and owners. “Earlier, there was an exemption from the renewal of fitness from the date of expiry to one year. The recent amendments and revised fee structure enables RTA officials to impose '50 penalty per day for not getting fitness of autos.
