Arrest real culprits in Fazal case: CPM to CBI
Thiruvananthapuram: Although the Kerala police have handed over evidence and witness accounts about the real culprits behind the sensational murder of NDF activist Fazal in 2006, the CBI was playing hide and seek, according to the CPM state secretariat.
Fazal was murdered on October 22, 2006 and the very next day the NDF leadership made it clear that RSS was behind the murder. However, later it did a volte face and targeted the CPM.
The internal fight in the RSS led to the startling revelation that RSS men were behind the murder. Despite this disclosure, the CBI was acting in a politically motivated manner and continuing to target the CPM leaders, the secretariat said.
RSS activist Subheesh, one of the assailants, had made a confessional statement before the CBI, but it was not ready to change its stand. Subheesh gave a detailed account of how Fazal was murdered.
The CPM said the Kerala police had also provided further evidence to add to the confessional statement. On the basis of the information provided by the police, the court had ordered reinvestigation into Chittariparambu Pavithran murder case. The court direction should be made applicable to the other case as well, it said.
It is for the CBI to take a decision on reinvestigating into the Fazal murder case. It may be noted that the Supreme Court had directed that even after completion of a probe, if fresh evidence comes up, the case should be reinvestigated, the secretariat said and added that the CBI should take cognizance of the court verdict.
